Hi, I'm Sandra.
I'm a creative Instructional Designer and lover of learning. I was attracted to Instructional Design for several reasons:
I'm a nerd for visual design and writing. I enjoy the creative flow, attention to detail and writing that is a part of the instructional design process. From choosing color schemes to writing storyboards to watching courses come to life, I knew instructional design was a great space for me.
Time for my family, my world. Instructional Design allows me the flexibility to be more than a fantastic designer and developer, it allows me to play an active part in the lives of the people I love most. Being present is important to me both with my work and family.
Collaboration. Although much of the work done "behind the scenes" is independent, I love the opportunities to meet with subject matter experts and stakeholders and work together to design quality learning solutions.
When I am not working, I enjoy salsa dancing, reading, crafting, and outdoor adventures!
What about my design process? I am familiar with both ADDIE and SAM and methodically decide which is the best to use depending on the project. After compiling and analyzing all content and data that has been collected, and deciding which modality would be ideal for the course, I use the process of Mind Mapping to develop appropriate learning objectives and organize information accordingly. Design documents provide an avenue for intentionally deciding how to chunk information, and outline the delivery of the course. After collaborating with SME's and stakeholders to agree on both the process and information, an intricate storyboard is created.
So why work with me? As an instructional designer, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. I am skilled in the instructional design process, adult learning principles, and the latest eLearning software, allowing me to create engaging and effective learning solutions. My courses are designed to cater to various learning styles, incorporating interactive eLearning, instructor-led training, virtual instructor-led training, and microlearning formats.
Beyond my technical skills, I offer a solution-oriented approach, an endless positive attitude, and a strong commitment to collaboration. I work closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders to understand their needs and develop tailored training solutions that help businesses achieve their goals. As a lifelong learner, I stay up-to-date on industry trends through networking and actively participating in learning and development communities.
